My experiences from the Strategic Leadership Program

Participating in the Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) has been a journey that has both challenged and developed me – as a leader, as a colleague, and as a representative of NCC. In my everyday role as Area Manager in Vestland, it is easy to become operational and results oriented. Through the SLP, I had the opportunity to raise my perspective and understand how, as leaders, we can create value far beyond our own area.

One of the strongest insights for me was about the power of the NCC brand. We should not only compete on price – we should create a sense of security, professionalism, and clear added value for our customers. This has already influenced how I work in Area Vestland, including an increased focus on customer value, documentation, and internal competence development.

Understanding the bigger picture has made me more confident

The SLP also gave me greater insight into how finance, leadership, and strategic decision-making are interlinked within a corporate structure. Understanding the bigger picture – from business models to profitability drivers – has made me more confident in dialogue both upwards and across the organization.

Working on our business challenge taught me how important competence continuity and clear structures are, especially in large and long-term projects. This has inspired me to work even more systematically with competence, ownership, and development within my own teams.

Perhaps what has left the greatest impression overall are the encounters with other leaders in NCC – people who are genuinely passionate about the profession, the culture, and our direction. The network we have built will be of great benefit to me going forward.

Insights that will help team development

Looking ahead: I carry with me a stronger understanding of my role as a leader in NCC, and a desire to use the insights from the SLP to further develop my team. My goal going forward is to be more conscious of value, clearer with priorities, and even better at building teams that deliver results over time.

The Strategic Leadership Program has simply given me a new level of confidence, motivation – and a clear sense that I want to contribute even more to NCC’s development in the years to come.
