Catalog Organization
Whether you have one product or 1000, organization is the key to building an ecommerce
website economically. Your website designer doesn't know your product line. She or
he depends on you to supply this information.
A simple spreadsheet is a great way to deliver this information. At the very minimum,
the spreadsheet should contain:
- Product name
- SKU or stock number
- Retail price
- Description
- Product category
You may also want to include:
- Manufacturer
- Shipping weight
- Number in stock
- Tax status
- Photo file name
Organizing your catalog will help lower development costs and keep data entry mistakes to a
minimum.
