Gabbro for Export
Gabbro is an igneous rock which has crystallized deep in the Earth. Since the rock cooled and hardened, and crystallized deep below the Earth’s surface, it is coarse grained. Gabbro is often used as aggregate material for concrete, road base, and railroad ballast.
About Gabbro
Gabbro is sometimes called "black granite" because it is also coarse-grained. However, Gabbro contains a large proportion of iron-bearing minerals, making it heavier and dark-colored.
Areas of utilization
- Concrete: Gabbro is resistant to weathering and chemical reactions, ensuring long-lasting concrete. Its density contributes to the stability and robustness of concrete structures.
- Road base: The crushed Gabbro has an angular shape, which helps it lock together, providing stability and preventing movement. It is also a hard and dense rock, making it resistant to wear and weathering.
- Railroad ballast: Gabbro provides a stable and strong base to support the heavy loads of passing trains. Its coarse texture allows for effective drainage, preventing water accumulation that could destabilize the tracks.
