NCC to construct 400 apartments for SPG in Bålsta, Sweden

NCC has been commissioned by Scandinavian Property Group to construct approximately 400 apartments, both tenant-owner and rental apartments, in Bålsta north of Stockholm, Sweden. The project is a turnkey contract with an order value of approximately SEK 450 million.

“Scandinavian Property Group (SPG) acquired the project in Bålsta in autumn 2017 when the zoning process was ongoing, and has worked intensively since then to ensure the implementation of the project. Starting clearance has been received and SPG will now begin construction in phases, providing Bålsta center with 400 new housing units, which feels fantastic,” says Carl Zetterqvist, CEO of SPG in Sweden.

The project, named Stationslunden, is located in Bålsta, Håbo Municipality, north of Stockholm. It will involve the construction of five building structures containing 104 tenant-owner apartments and 284 rental apartments. The well-planned apartments will range from studios to three-bedroom apartments and all tenant-owner apartments will come with their own balcony or terrace.

Stationslunden will offer proximity to nature and water as well as commuter trains and the city center. The area is also home to several schools, high schools and services like retirement homes.

“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with SPG. In the project planning phase, we have jointly developed a product that is extremely cost-efficient from both a technological and a constructability standpoint. This has been made possible through creative and close collaboration,” says Annika Grönberg, Department Manager, NCC Building Bostad Stockholm.

Construction will commence in the summer of 2020 and occupancy will begin gradually from 2021.  The entire project is expected to be completed around year-end 2022.

The transaction amount is approximately SEK 450 million and will be registered among orders in the third quarter of 2020 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
