The former students’ union building of Helsinki School of Economics will be renovated into multifunctional office and retail space to build the happy working culture of tomorrow. The renovation will be carried out with all due respect to tradition. The building will be named Kulma21 (”Corner21”).
Kulma21 is located at Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu in Kamppi district of Helsinki city centre. The site is extremely well served by traffic connections. Within a short walking distance are the Musiikkitalo concert hall and the Oodi central library. The area creates a dynamic urban entirety where everything comes together: generous services, work, entertainment and a truly urban way of life.
Thoroughly renovated business space
The renovation works will start with exposing the building’s framing, following which the façades and interiors will be thoroughly renewed to meet future needs for business space. Sustainability is a basic requirement for the renovation project which will be the first one in Finland to be certified Excellent as per the latest criteria of the BREEAM environmental rating system for renovation projects.
In Helsinki city centre
Kulma21 is optimally located right next to services. The Kamppi Shopping Centre and metro station are 250 metres away while the Helsinki central railway station is 800 metres, and the Baana light traffic route only 50 metres away. At the 7th floor there will be a roof terrace overlooking south from where you can watch the busy traffic flow in downtown Helsinki.
During its unique history the building has served as a prominent centre for student life, business, entertainment and spare-time activities. It has been officially determined as a property of built cultural environment of significant national value.
