Henrik Landelius was in search of a stimulating position with responsibility that would provide him with opportunities for career growth. His dream became a reality at NCC, one of the leading construction and property-development companies in northern Europe.
NCC is a human and innovative company with a considerable focus on sustainable development. We endeavor to do the right thing and contribute to the development of society, and we are accomplishing this through a range of projects, such as the Stockholm City Line and new office space at Torsplan, where we succeeded in achieving the highest possible environmental classification for offices. We are also involved in a significant number of diversity projects.
We have collaborated with Kunskapsskolan and the Swedish Public Employment Service to launch vocational training for foreign-born engineers. The tailored training course is aimed at strengthening knowledge in the Swedish language, civics, safety and the work environment, and incorporates theory and practice. We have also launched a site-manager program for women with a view to attracting more women to traditionally male-dominated construction sites.
Sustainability is about so much more than environmental aspectsHenrik Landelius
Our vision is to renew our industry and provide superior sustainable solutions. Sustainability is about so much more than environmental aspects – we must increase diversity at our workplaces and generate social value for our customers and in the market. We want to assume responsibility for reflecting the society to which we deliver, and I personally believe that a multifaceted team is better at solving assignments than a homogeneous team, particularly in our industry.
NCC has a new strategy period and it's no secret that the strategy comprises extremely ambitious growth targets. This means that we will have a considerable need for recruitment. To be at the leading edge, we must absorb new skills and consequently, we will invest in reaching out to all recruitment bases – more women and individuals with migrant backgrounds. We are working in the right direction and I am proud of this.
