One foot in design, one foot in production
Being a technical manager means standing right in the middle of the transformation—from drawing to reality. I’ve always enjoyed solving complex problems, and in this role, I get to do that every day.
Team spirit and collaboration
Since 2018, I’ve had the privilege of working on the E02 Centralen project, a sub-phase of the West Link in Gothenburg. It’s a long-term project where both technology and people need to work together. We’ve put a lot of effort into building a strong team spirit, and it’s been both challenging and rewarding.
As a technical manager, I’m responsible for ensuring that the design meets quality standards, is feasible, and follows both the schedule and budget. I lead design managers and support functions—from VDC to work environment—and make sure the solutions are buildable from the start. This is where we can truly influence project costs and success.
To meet conflicting requirements
One concrete challenge in Centralen was the large glass sections at the station exits. They needed to withstand both fire and explosion, but the requirements conflicted. Through dialogue with the Swedish Transport Administration, consultants, and production, we developed a solution that was both technically viable and economically sound. These kinds of collaborations are a key part of my job—and something I really enjoy.
I started my career as a bridge designer and joined NCC in 2002. Since then, I’ve worked on increasingly large projects. It’s the big ones that attract me. They offer resources, expertise, and variety—with many milestones to reach. When we succeed according to plan, it’s a great feeling.
The road forward - Green Industry Transformation
Now I’m moving on to the Green Industry Transformation business area, working across the Nordics. Currently, I’m involved in an industrial project in Gällivare. Industrial clients are often highly solution-oriented and have strict environmental and safety requirements—something that suits both NCC and me. I look forward to continuing to deliver sustainable and efficient solutions, where drawings become reality.
