NCC to build the Junkaremål school in Tranås
NCC, together with AB Tranåsbostäder, is building the new Junkaremål school in Tranås. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of approximately SEK 180 million. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place today, together with Tranås Bostäder and children from every grade of the school.
“We have completed several previous school projects together with NCC, and with their support and aggregate know-how we are looking forward to continuing this productive partnership now that it is time to build the new Junkaremål school with its modern learning environments for students and staff,” says Magnus Nilsson, AB Tranåsbostäder.
NCC and AB Tranåsbostäder are now beginning construction of the new Junkaremål school in Tranås. The previous school building, which was constructed in the 1960s, has been demolished and will be replaced with a new building that is better suited to today’s teaching methods. Ground was broken today to mark the start of construction. Completion is scheduled for prior to the start of the 2024 autumn term.
The assignment includes demolition of the existing school building and construction of a new building. The new school building will house an elementary school from preschool class to grade 6 for 392 students, and an elementary special education division for 55 students. The building will contain classrooms, group rooms, a gymnasium, a library, an afterschool care center and a staff area. A new schoolyard will be built next to the school.
The collaboration between NCC and AB Tranåsbostäder takes the form of a strategic partnering arrangement that was initiated in 2016 to jointly investigate and complete new construction and refurbishment of a number of properties in the municipality. Previously completed projects include the Råsvägen nursing home, group housing in the Ametisten block and refurbishments and extensions at the Holaved high school and Fröafall school.
“We have collaborated closely and from an early stage with Tranås Bostäder, which has made it possible to make smart decisions to optimize the school building throughout the construction process. Together with Tranås Bostäder, we look forward to leveraging our solid competence as school builders and realizing a modern school that will promote learning among the students of Tranås,” says Andreas Saltin, Business Manager, NCC Building Sweden.
The approximately SEK 180 million transaction will be registered among orders in the fourth quarter of 2022 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
