NCC to refurbish Sergelhuset for Vasakronan

NCC has been commissioned by Vasakronan to refurbish part of the Hästskon 12 property block, also known as Sergelhuset, converting it from office space to a hotel and apartments. The assignment is a turnkey contract in the form of a partnering agreement and the order is worth SEK 550 million.

“Now that SEB is vacating the building, one of Stockholm’s prime locations will be used to create a vibrant and safe district where people choose to stay and reside. This unique opportunity, with a vacated property, will allow us to also adopt a holistic approach in terms of upgrading the premises, energy efficiency and technical installations,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

The Sergelhuset contract comprises three refurbishment projects where NCC’s assignment relates to refurbishing and extending M-huset, which is located between Malmskillnadsgatan and the Parkaden multistory car park.

The floor space for refurbishment covers approximately 16,000 square meters and upon completion, the building will contain about 280 hotel rooms and 34 apartments. The transformation will take into account the original modernist vision, but will be adapted to today’s extended vision of what constitutes a vibrant urban environment.

“NCC, together with Vasakronan, will create a long-term sustainable building at all levels, incorporating both energy-related issues and choices of material. The aim is that the building will be awarded LEED Platinum certification, one of the highest ecolabels a building can receive,” says Henrik Landelius.

The SEK 550 million order will be registered during the second quarter of 2017 in the Building business area.
