“Strandängstorget is Vätterhem’s largest new production project in modern time. With Lake Vättern as its closest neighbor and proximity to the center of Jönköping, we, together with NCC, are creating a pleasant and vibrant city district, with attractive residential units and business premises,” says Henrik Möller, Property Development Manager at Vätterhem.

In the Strandängstorget project, NCC will construct 164 residential units; 120 rental units comprising studios to three-bedroom apartments and 44 sheltered housing units comprising studios to two-bedroom apartments. Commercial premises will be constructed on the ground floor for businesses including a gym, restaurant and stores.

The residential units are being planned in accordance with Sweden Green Building Council Silver level, entailing that the residential units are being designed on the basis of stringent requirements on energy efficiency, a healthy indoor environment with good ventilation and sound material choices.

The project is being conducted within the framework of the strategic partnering arrangement that commenced in June 2018 between NCC and Jönköping’s municipal housing company, Vätterhem.

“We are building on the excellent cooperation with Vätterhem and have started the groundwork for our second joint project. By working in a partnering form of cooperation from an early stage and across several projects, we can capitalize on knowledge and experience to develop flexible and cost-effective residential units for the residents of Jönköping,” says Henrik Landelius, Business Area Manager of NCC Building Sweden.

Earth and groundworks have commenced. The residential units will be ready for occupancy during autumn 2024.

The approximately SEK 400 million assignment will be registered among orders in the fourth quarter of 2021 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
