After nearly two years of intense ground and concreting works at the construction site in Hillerød, the construction of the New North Zealand Hospital is ready for the next phase, which involves façades, external cladding, balconies and roofing. In accordance with the plan, the parties have now signed a construction contract.

“Our excellent partnership with the Capital Region will continue as the next phase of the construction project of Denmark’s most beautiful hospital gets underway. From March next year, we can look forward to the buildings being weatherproofed vertically and horizontally,” says Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics.

The façade and roofing works will extend until 2024 and require close coordination with the completion of concreting and steel structures, as well as the parallel commencement of groundworks around the hospital and in the courtyard areas.

“As the developer, we are delighted that the next phase of the construction can begin in earnest, and in particular, that this is taking place with productive and close collaboration between ourselves and NCC,” says Sune From, Project Director, New North Zealand Hospital.

NCC is the main contractor for the construction of the New North Zealand Hospital that consists of a total of three phases. The first phase is complete and the parties have now signed a contract for the second phase. The order value is approximately SEK 650 million and will be registered among orders in the fourth quarter of 2021 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.

The construction of the hospital will be the largest single construction project ever in North Zealand. The low, four-story building is shaped as a four-leaf clover and encompasses approximately 122,000 square meters. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
