NCC has signed 19 agreements with the Swedish Transport Administration for road maintenance in northern Sweden. The agreements apply to 2025 and have a total order value of approximately SEK 840 million.

The agreements encompass road maintenance in the northern parts of Sweden with a main focus on roads across the counties of Dalarna, Gävleborg, Norrbotten, Jämtland and Västerbotten. In total, around 600 kilometers of road will be improved using about 483,000 tons, in total, of asphalt.

NCC will use around 30 percent reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in the surfacing work. This will be done by milling the road surface and using stone materials and bitumen from the existing asphalt in the new paving. This method leads to a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions compared with the conventional method. The asphalt mix will be produced close to the site in local asphalt plants and supplemented with mobile asphalt plants to shorten transportation distances and further reduce the environmental impact.

NCC has been working systematically and purposefully for many years to identify production solutions that will help to reduce CO₂ emissions from asphalt paving. We are looking forward to improving a large proportion of the roads across northern Sweden, while also helping our customers achieve their climate targets,” says Grete Aspelund, Head of NCC Industry.

The total order value of the agreements is approximately SEK 840 million, which will be registered in the NCC Industry business area on an ongoing basis throughout 2025.
