“The new Minnesgärde waterworks is an important project that will secure the region’s water supply well into the future. We have been working with NCC for some time on this project and look forward to jointly taking the next step,” says Tore Åberg, Project Coordinator, Östersund Municipality.

“We have been able to develop the best solutions for the new Minnesgärde waterworks thanks to our early involvement in the project and close collaboration with Östersund Municipality. NCC has long-standing experience and unique specialist expertise in water treatment. We are delighted that we can now take the next step in the development of a stable treatment system for Östersund Municipality,” says Tomas Brannemo, Head of NCC Infrastructure.

The new waterworks will replace the existing facility built in 1973. The new facility is designed to meet current standards for safe and robust water treatment with multiple treatment stages and state-of-the-art technology.

NCC has participated in the design phase since autumn 2020, focusing on constructability, cost estimates and planning, and has carried out preliminary works for the new waterworks. The parties have now signed an agreement to initiate construction.

The contract includes groundworks and foundation engineering, as well as construction of the new main building and the treatment and processing sections of the facility. The project also includes preparations for the installation of nanomembrane-based treatment technologies.

Construction will commence immediately and the waterworks is scheduled for completion in 2029.

NCC has registered orders totaling approximately SEK 500 million since 2020 for participation in the design phase and preliminary works. An order value of SEK 700 million will now be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the second quarter of 2026.
