NCC to construct swim center in Karlskrona
NCC will build a new swim center in Rödeby in collaboration with Karlskrona Municipality. The new swim center will be constructed adjacent to the existing outdoor pool facility and replace the current indoor pool facility. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of approximately SEK 200 million.

“The time has finally come to commence construction of Rödeby’s new swim center, an important initiative to facilitate swimming lessons in schools, children’s swimming classes and exercise. Swim centers are technically challenging and one of the building types subjected to the greatest stresses. It therefore feels very reassuring to have NCC by our side given its experience with constructing numerous swim centers across the country,” says Alexander Tiger, Construction Project Manager at Karlskrona Municipality.
NCC’s assignment involves the construction of a new swim center featuring a 25-meter pool and a teaching pool, both of which will have an adjustable floor that raises or lowers, changing rooms, staff rooms, a small café area and an entrance that will be shared with the existing outdoor pool facility. A technical installation will be built on the basement level, supplying both the new swimming center and the outdoor pool facility, thereby offering enhanced energy and resource efficiency.
The project is being implemented as a turnkey contract in partnering form. In the first phase, NCC and Karlskrona Municipality jointly planned and designed the project, which is now entering the construction phase. The new swim center will replace the existing facility, built in 1972, which remains open throughout the construction period. NCC has a dedicated team of swim center experts that shares knowledge and experience from a large number of swim center projects with varying prerequisites.
“We are working in partnering with Karlskrona Municipality on this project, and the collaboration is functioning well. Together we have planned the new Rödeby swim center based on the Municipality’s requirements and preferences as well as on the extensive experience that NCC has gained from similar previous projects. We are now looking forward to commencing production,” says Ulf Jönsson representing NCC Building Sweden.
Production will now commence and it is expected that the project will take around two years. The order value is approximately SEK 200 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the fourth quarter of 2025.
