NCC will be responsible for conducting the civil engineering works, laying of district heating pipes and metalworks. The project involves the laying of approximately 22 kilometers of main distribution pipes and 24 kilometers of secondary distribution pipes, which will supply district heating to 1,700 households in Herlev.

“The expansion of the district heating network is an important part of society’s transition to lower energy emissions, and we look forward to working closely with Vestforbrænding. We have many years of experience of district heating networks and we will utilize this know-how in this project, thereby ensuring efficient and professional progress in Herlev,” says Kenneth Nilsson, Head of NCC Infrastructure.

The expansion of the district heating network in Herlev is one of six contracts in the Vestforbrænding heating project “Värmeplan 2030” – one of Denmark’s largest civil engineering projects. Värmeplan 2030 will supply district heating to 39,000 households.

“I am very pleased that the final contract has now been signed. This gives us a full overview and clarity on how to implement the next steps in the process. Roll-out is already underway in several municipalities, and we look forward to initiating cooperation with NCC. Meanwhile, I am excited about the opportunity to offer district heating to even more residents of Herlev,” says Steen Neuchs Vedel, CEO of Vestforbrænding.

Work will commence in autumn 2026 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2030.

The order value of about SEK 700 million will be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the first quarter of 2026.
