It is a large and complex project with a long time line, where we, together with the contractor and the client, will create a modern facility that will provide our tenant, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, with the best possible conditions to run their operations efficiently," says Claes Magnusson, Head of Project Development at Specialfastigheter.

“Correctional facilities are complex projects that require specialist expertise, and the size of the facility in Trelleborg means that there will be additional challenges in many areas. NCC has extensive experience of completing large high-security projects, which will be invaluable for this important project,” says Tobias Holmqvist, Division Manager, NCC. 

NCC’s assignment involves the new construction of a correctional facility with space for 800 inmates and staffed by 600 employees. With a total building area of approximately 110,000 square meters, the facility will house a remand prison, a correctional institution, and premises for the national transport unit.

The project is being implemented as a turnkey contract in partnering form, and in the first phase, NCC and Specialfastigheter will jointly plan and design the project. This work will start immediately. If the project proceeds according to plan, the parties will sign a construction contract.

For these projects, particularly high requirements are imposed on advanced security solutions, technical expertise, special logistics and secure information management throughout all phases of the project.
