NCC to construct swim center and bowling alley in Örkelljunga, Sweden
NCC and Örkelljunga Municipality have signed an agreement to construct a new swim center and bowling alley in Örkelljunga. In the first phase, the parties have jointly planned, designed and budgeted the project, which will now transition to the construction phase. The project is a turnkey partnering contract with an order value of approximately SEK 250 million.

“We have enjoyed a very good working relationship with NCC on previous projects and look forward to continuing to develop Örkelljunga together. The new swim center and bowling alley will serve as an important hub for promoting public health and an attractive Örkelljunga,” says Mathias Svensson, Property Director for Örkelljunga Municipality.
The new center, which is being built adjacent to Ljunga School – a building recently constructed by NCC – will serve as a space for physical activity, wellness and community. The swim center will feature a 25-meter training pool, a multipurpose pool with an adjustable floor for rehabilitation, water aerobics and play, as well as a children’s pool, a heated pool and a sauna. The bowling alley will have six lanes and seating for spectators. The building, which will be connected to and integrated with the Municipality’s current Forum sports hall, will also feature a café.
NCC and Örkelljunga Municipality have placed specific emphasis on creating an energy-efficient facility and reducing the long-term operating costs of the center, for example by optimizing pump heads and gravity flow within the building. Long-lasting materials have also been selected to ensure the building’s durability. Where possible, existing outdoor plants and shrubbery will be preserved and relocated.
“Structurally speaking, swim centers are technically complex and must meet high standards for functionality, systems and sustainability. NCC has extensive experience of implementing similar projects across Sweden. Together with Örkelljunga Municipality, we will create a modern center that will meet the needs of the Municipality’s residents for many years to come,” says Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
Construction is scheduled to start in early 2027 and the new center is expected to be completed in early 2029. The order value is approximately SEK 250 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the fourth quarter of 2026.
