NCC to build new district court house in Tönsberg, Norway

NCC has been contracted by the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property to build a new district court house in Tönsberg in south-eastern Norway. The order value is approximately SEK 170 million.

The new district court house will cover an area of 4,715 square meters and will contain 14 courtrooms, meeting rooms, waiting rooms, and office space for about 60 people.

Together with Dyrvik arkitekter, the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property and the Norwegian National Courts Administration, NCC has recently completed a seven-week phase to optimize and streamline the project before construction begins.

“We interacted very well with all parties during the planning phase, which created a solid platform for an efficient production phase. NCC handed over Drammen district court this summer so we have an experienced and competent team that is now beginning work in Tönsberg,” says Roger Nygård, Head of NCC Building in Norway.

The building will be constructed as a passive house and meet high environmental standards. For example, all machinery used in the project will operate on electricity or biofuel, which will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions significantly compared with a conventional construction process.

Construction will begin in March 2024 and the project is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the autumn of 2025.

The order value of about SEK 170 million will be registered during the fourth quarter of 2023 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
