NCC to build Diamanten in Bjurholm Municipality

In collaboration with Bjurholm Municipality, NCC is to construct Diamanten, a new building that will combine operations including a retirement home and preschool in Bjurholm. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of approximately SEK 200 million.

The new building will comprise a residential care facility with 40 rooms, a preschool to accommodate 90 children, a commercial kitchen, a school canteen with 150 places and offices for home care services in Bjurholm.

“Diamanten will serve as the hub of a stimulating and nurturing preschool and retirement home, enriched by the proximity of operations and enabling exciting interaction and development. We are pleased to have NCC involved at an early stage of this project to yield the best results in terms of design, planning and operation,” says Christina Lidström, Chair of the Bjurholm Municipal Executive Board.

Diamanten will be a building with exciting architecture with flexible premises adapted to an intense business. To future-proof the buildings, the requirements for environmental and energy performance have been high, and the buildings are designed and built according to Miljöbyggnad Gold for the energy use and Silver for its other parts. The frame will be partly built in wood and with climate-improved concrete. Diamanten will be provided with technical equipment to meet the future needs of elderly care, but also with IT tools in the preschool for their future needs.

“It feels great to be part of the coordination and modernization of the municipality’s operations to achieve synergies, a healthy work environment and sound finances. The idea is for Diamanten to offer an exciting and attractive residential, learning and work environment with first-rate, adapted premises that facilitate the development and coordination of work methods and operating forms,” says Daniel Ödling, head of department North, NCC Building Sweden.

The order value is approximately SEK 200 million and it will be registered among orders in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the fourth quarter of 2023. Construction is planned to commence in March 2024 and completion is scheduled for the end of 2025.
