NCC to construct pumping station for Sydvatten in southern Sweden
NCC has been commissioned by Sydvatten to construct a new pumping station at the Ringsjöverket waterworks in Skåne in southern Sweden. The project is a construction contract and the order value is approximately SEK 170 million.
Under the contract, NCC will construct and commission a fully equipped pumping station with an associated backup power plant in Stehag at the Ringsjöverket waterworks. The new pumping station will be built adjacent to a new water pipeline from the Bolmen Water Tunnel and will play a key role in the supply of drinking water in Skåne.
“We look forward to working with NCC – a company with extensive experience from similar projects – on the construction of the new pumping station in Stehag. The facility is an important component in supplying all partner municipalities with drinking water from Lake Bolmen over the long term,” says Mattias Leijon, CEO of Sydvatten.
“NCC has long-standing and extensive experience of complex water and wastewater projects, and our work in the region has included the construction of Helsingborg’s new water tower, intake pumping stations and the Pynten pumping station in Kristianstad. We have gained extensive experience from previous projects and this will position us well to successfully realize this project together with Sydvatten. We are now looking forward to beginning our collaboration on the new pumping station in Stehag,” says Christer Stenson, Production Manager, NCC.
The project must meet high standards in terms of safety and technical implementation, and involves deep and complex excavation works in a security classified environment. Both Sydvatten and NCC are striving to reduce their climate footprint and will use HVO100 fuel and, where possible, electricity to power machinery, thus jointly mitigating the climate impact of the project.
Planning will begin after the summer and construction will commence in late 2026/early 2027. The new pumping station is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.
The order value of the construction contract is approximately SEK 170 million and it will be registered among orders in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the second quarter of 2026.
